TRUE
GRIT
Paramount,
1969John Wayne finally won his best-actor Oscar for his
1969 portrayal of a boozy marshal helping a tough-minded girl (Kim
Darby) track down her father's killers. Well-directed by Henry
Hathaway, it's still not one of the Duke's classics -- although it
does have many good scenes, the best of which is the final
shoot-out between Wayne's Rooster Cogburn and chief baddie, Ned
Pepper (Robert Duvall).
